NEW YORK KNICKS HAS BEEN GOING CRAZY, ONE OF OUR FIRST EVER T&C MODELS, THATGUYMARZ HIT US UP WITH A CONCEPT AND IT WENT VIRAL!

Yo, have you seen the new Knicks inspired New York bags...they’re going crazy right now! Seeing them on the backs of Academy and Emmy winning director Spike Lee https://www.instagram.com/officialspikelee and Knicks player, Josh Hart  https://www.instagram.com/hart  feels unreal. Listen, after decades of hope, frustration, and loyalty, New York has finally been rewarded with their third NBA Championship. Of course we had to show love with this new bag and thankfully I got the pleasure to sit and chat with the designer behind it, Thatguymarz https://www.instagram.com/thatguymarz.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Thatguymarz (Marz) has brought his designs to life since high school. His studded-hats evolved to his signature style which has attracted artists like Chris Brown whose dancers were spotted wearing his bedazzled ski masks on tour. Along with YE (Kanye West) who fashionably wore a Marz’s jeweled ski mask.

I guess all that happened to lead to moments with cultural figures such as Spike Lee and Josh Hart. Thatguymarz knew something was missing after scrolling past numerous New York jackets with no sign of any New York bags. He connected his pencil with paper, made some sketches and met up with our Totencarry designer Carnita Whimper. After adding final touches to the bag, Thatguymarz posted a video with it and let’s just say it went VIRAL.

Spike Lee DM’d regarding pricing, and instead of talking numbers, Thatguymarz saw an opportunity for a photoshoot featuring himself, Spike Lee, and the bags he now calls his. Not long after, Thatguymarz tracked down Josh Hart backstage at Fanaticsfest with the intention to gift him. Hart was skeptical at first, but once Marz introduced himself as the designer, the energy shifted. The respect was immediate as Hart accepted the bag and the interaction even led to them doing a commercial together for Hart’s upcoming energy drink.

These moments don’t just pertain to getting bags into the hands of recognizable names. Thatguymarz’s journey is a testimony that it’s about having an idea that begins within, spending hours refining your craft, and having the courage to share it with the world, trusting it finds a place in someone else’s story.
